Activity

Below is a suggested activity for use with partners, including OPDs, which complements the section content. It’s expected that you will have covered the content in advance, adjusting the delivery and level of detail to the audience.

Preparation

Depending on the type of audience, participants can first review a selection of the tools and approaches for assessing stigma, as detailed earlier in this section.

Instructions

Reflect on the project you are designing and brainstorm following questions:

  1. Why might you want to measure different types of stigma?
  2. What changes in stigma should you track, and from whose perspective?
  3. How can you track any changes? Which of the approaches may best suit your project and setting?

Learning outcomes

Participants will have:

  • Reflected on the purpose of assessing stigma
  • Discussed the relative advantages and disadvantages of different approaches for their project and setting
